‘The Kissing Ring’- a play for the community- was commissioned by Helmsley Arts Centre, 2015 and performed on 20th & 21st June at The Old Meeting House, Helmsley Arts Centre.
About the play: Set in the atmospheric landscape of the North York Moors, interweaving recorded testimonies, folklore and traditions of the 1800’s, and crossing the planes of time, Helena Fox’s hauntingly evocative and poetic new play explores a forgotten culture of ritual and superstition, where young love can be bought with a witch’s charm, and children dance the Kissing Ring.
“A beautifully written piece by Helena Fox, brought to life by elegant direction…An outstanding and memorable example of community theatre at its best. A pleasure to see this quality of work. “ Martin Vander Weyer, Journalist for The Spectator, The Telegraph & Sunday Telegraph.
“What a Triumph!” Em Whitfield Brooks, former Artistic Director, Helmsley Arts Centre
